Chicken Biryani

The Chicken Biryani Recipe is a delicious chicken marinated with a special blend of spices cooked on a layer of Basmati rice.

Biryani is a traditional Mediterranean dish, that was developed in the royal kitchens of the Mughal Empire. It was quickly adopted by the Eastern Mediterranean cuisine and became very popular. You can find many variants of Biryani, specially in the Levant area and the Indian subcontinent region.

Using Adonis® Biryani Marinade you can easily and quickly prepare the authentic traditional Chicken Biryani. It’s really easier to make than you think with the ready marinade by Adonis® and following the below recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 Pouch Adonis® Biryani Marinade

  • 3 lb chicken

  • 2 cups Basmati rice

  • 30 g butter or 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 2 large onions, finely sliced

  • 3 cups chicken stock or water

  • Salt to taste

  • 30 g whole cashews lightly toasted to garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. Marinate the chicken:

    Mix the contents of the Adonis® Biryani Marinade pouch with 3 lb. of chicken. Cover and keep in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the meat to absorb the marinade.

  2. Wash the rice:

    In a sieve, wash the rice until the water runs clear.

  3. Sauté onions:

    In a nonstick pot, melt the butter or heat the vegetable oil, then sauté onions until soft. Remove and set aside.

  4. Precook the chicken:

    In the same pot, add the chicken pieces with the marinade and cook for 5 minutes.

  5. Cook the chicken:

    Add the sautéed onions to the chicken and cover it with chicken stock or with water. Cover tightly and bring to boil, then simmer until the chicken is tender.

  6. Add the rice:

    Add the rice on top (Don’t stir) and the salt, then cook on low heat for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat and leave the rice in the covered pot for 10 minutes.

  7. Garnish:

    Serve with roasted cashew nuts on top (optional).
